"Thank God I'm A Country Boy"

"Thank God I'm A Country Boy"

Performed by John Denver

This song feels like the classic, stereotypical country song. The instruments come together to bring the classic sound of country music. It is a song you just can't help but clap along to. The beat is easy to find, even if someone is not particularly inclined in music.

The speed that John Denver is able to sing this song, particularly in the attached video is incredible. He is very talented. His accent works perfectly with the meaning of this song. I love that they use the banjo to bridge the verses together. The classic sound of the banjo really benefits the purpose of the lyrics.

The rhyming in this song is a very creative and well done aspect to this song. It adds to the rhythm of the song.

All aspects of this song come together very well in creating the typical country song. I can see why people might not enjoy the style of music, but with the lyrics considered, country music is incredible! The lyrics always have a story or meaning that pulls the song together. I love that about this song. This song tells what it is like to live the life of a country boy, and what a wonderful life it is! John Denver does a good job adding his emotion into the song as he sings "Thank God I'm a country boy!"

  1. I see what you are talking about when it comes to country songs telling a story, but I feel like that sometimes in telling a story, the meaning behind is lost because of the emphasis on the story. But if we look at a song that conveys what it means as a slap in the face, everyone knows what it means without digging super deep into it. Good song, and good post though.
